About Chaos Research

The story of Chaos Research began in Berlin, Germany in October 2003 as an experimental side project of Marko "Gravehill" M. Hautamäki, also known from such bands as Majesty, Two Witches, ex-SinMasters and ex-Shade Factory among others. The initial idea for the project was to expand upon what Marko had done with his other bands, adding lots of new influences (mostly from realms of dark ambient, electronic and classical music) and aiming to create something new instead of following any current trends.

The years 2004 and 2005 Marko spent mostly locked in his studio, just composing lots and lots of material. For one part it was about honing Markos compositional abilities and technique and for another about seeing how the concept of Chaos Research would evolve. A lot of experimentation was involved and during this time Marko wrote over 7 hours worth of music, of which only a small part has been released to date. The first Chaos Research release, a limited edition three song cd-r ep entitled "Revelations" was released in September 2004 generating quite a lot of interest towards the project. In December 2005 the first ever Chaos Research concert took place in already legendary Boheme Noir party in Berlin.

March 2006 finally saw the release of the first full-length album of Chaos Research, entitled "Revelations" The album is a larger work expanding on the themes originally presented on the limited debut ep of the same name. The album was an exclusive Japan-only release through Deserted Factory records but is available from specialized stores also in Europe and Americas.

"Revelations" album seemed to open an unanticipated amount of new doors for Chaos Research and very soon after the release of the album Marko found himself working almost exclusively on film music. The first film scores came out in 2006 and later that year Marko was also working on his first computer game. Since then Marko has been working on film and game music almost full-time, barring an occasional tour with Two Witches or doing remixes and arrangements to various other bands.

At the moment Marko is composing music for new album to be released late 2010.
